It is "clean out the freezer" season at our house and the best way I have found to use those odds and ends of frozen fruit is by making a smoothie. I had just enough frozen mango and a couple of frozen applesauce cubes that needed to get used up. I have read all sorts of anti-inflammatory benefits of turmeric and have been making an effort to add more of it to my diet so that was added too. This all comes together in a buttery yellow hue that was just the thing I needed to brighten up yet another gray winter's day.
Mango Turmeric Smoothie
Adapted from a recipe by Love & Zest
- 3/4 c frozen mango
- 2 frozen applesauce cubes, about 1/4 c
- 1/2 banana
- 1 c vanilla yogurt
- 3/4 tsp turmeric
Combine all ingredients in a blender until smooth. Enjoy!
